‣ Players must be at least fifteen (15) years of age.
There will be certain darker themes that will arise in-game, based on character actions and player plots. Because of this, we will be restricting the game's scope to players that are fifteen (15) years old or older. If it is discovered that a player is underage, their characters will be removed from the game.
‣ In-character interactions must remain in-character.
In other words: IC is IC, and OOC (Out-of-Character) is OOC. Please do not confuse the player for the character (or vice-versa); remember that a character's actions in-game do not (and should never) be associated with a player out-of-game, be they a knight in shining armour or a blackhearted villain. If you believe that a player may be associating character actions as player actions, please do not be afraid to contact the mods so we can take steps to clear up any misunderstandings.
‣ There is Zero Tolerance for godmodding, infomodding, or powerplay.
For those that are unfamiliar with the terms:
• Godmodding is enabling your character to perform feats of skill that have zero basis in that character's canon - ie, a character that has no known skill for magic suddenly being able to create impenetrable magical barriers in the blink of an eye;
• Infomodding is the use of OOC knowledge by a player to further facilitate their own goals - ie, A2 tells 2B about their character's weakness in an out-of-character discussion, and 2B's character is suddenly able to defeat A2's character in a conflict using said weakness;
• Powerplaying is when a player's character performs an action with the assumption that the opposing character will not (or cannot) be able to counterattack or evade - ie, A2 having their character ready a rocket launcher to shoot it at 2B's character and assuming that they did not jump out of the way of the blast (or was suddenly incapacitated and could not evade).
If you believe a player is intentionally having their character behave in such ways, please let the mods know.
Addendum - 4th Walling: For the time being, we also ask that players refrain from having their characters recognise other characters from different media. If one character would be able to recognise another character from a book/game/TV show, they will find that their memory of the latter character is suddenly foggy and indistinct.
‣ Feel free to contact the mods if you have a plot you'd like to run.
If there's anything you'd like your character to do on the island as an overarching plot, don't hesitate to contact the mod account with details on what plot you'd like to run, and we will gladly work out the details on when it can start. (In fact, we encourage it!)
For the sake of making sure that no two plots conflict with one another, however, please let us know if a plot is large enough to affect the isle as a whole (or will involve a large amount of NPCs), so that we can properly accomodate it.
‣ Feel free to contact the mods... for anything!
Full disclosure here: one of us mods has absolutely zero modding experience. None. Zilch. Keeping this in mind, we're trying the best we can to bring you a fun environment! So if you guys have any concerns, questions, "hey-you-can-do-this-better"s, or anything of the sort, please let us know!
‣ Be respectful to your fellow players.
Players are human, and that means that they aren't perfect; sometimes, things come up between people that may result in a Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Argument, and there are heated tempers, a lot of hurt feelings, and the occasional cold shoulder. With that in mind, please don't take it out on your fellow players, or their characters; we (the mods) encourage a calm, civil environment!
If there is an incident that needs to be addressed by the mods, let us know and we'll step in to help defuse the situation. We just want everyone to get along!
‣ Last, but not least: enjoy yourselves!
RP is a hobby, and a hobby should be something you enjoy! Never feel as though you have to force yourself to do things, especially if you're just not feeling up to it; that just makes it into a chore. Always remember that we'll be here for you (mods and players both) if you need to take breaks; offline lives come first, and at the end of the day, if it's not working out for you, then there's no hard feelings in letting us know. ♥
